What is Microderm-abrasion?

It is a safe peeling system using sterile aluminum oxide crystals to gently abrade the surface of the skin.  It can achieve similar results to a chemical peel or laser resurfacing without any downtime.   It exfoliates the skin in much the same way as if you were to perform a facial scrub at home.  The sanitary crystals are jetted onto the skin through a hand piece and at the same time suctioned off carrying away the dead cells and used crystals.

What can it do for my skin?

It will leave your skin very fresh and smooth, will address fine lines, wrinkles, hyper pigmentation, large pores and acne scarring.

Is it painful?

Microdermabrasion can be mildly irritating during the procedure, but can be modified to your comfort level.  Post treatment the skin may have a warmth and windburned sensation which may last for 12-24 hours, but will result in a glowing complexion.  It is advisable to keep the skin very hydrated with a good moisturizer post treatment and always always always apply sunblock even on a cloudy rainy day.

Can it be combined with other treatments?

It can be paired very successfully with Microcurrent and LED LIGHT THERAPY, but this is something to discuss with your esthetician based on the needs and issues with your skin.  If you are using prescription topicals,  Retin-A or Accutane for acne or are receiving laser and chemical peels then that would be a discussion to have with your physician before considering microdermabrasion.

How many treatments will I need?

For optimum results treatments can be performed every 7-10 days dependent upon the results you are trying to achieve.
